Missing file: adwapi32.dll - bogus file!? Help!
Posted by Michelle on March 7th, 2004

Error message: A required .DLL File, ADWAPI32.DLL was not
found

Help!
I cannot install new peripherals, including my external HD
or my digital camera, because I always get this message.
I've searched and searched and have learned that this .dll
file isn't even a real file!

Someone said it could be a virus, but I ran a free virus
program, and it didn't identify any viruses.

???

So REMove the file call
i.e. search in your *.INI files for string ADWAPI32
and if not found search for it in Registry via REGEDIT.

Per Don's suggestion (thanks Don) I searched for *.INI
files on my C drive, but found none containing "ADWAPI32"
Then I opened the registry files and searched for
ADWAPI32. I also went to the .ini folder and only found
one file. The Name = Default and the Data = "inifile"

Am I doing something wrong?

I am sure that my missing file is ADWAPI32 and am aware of
the fact that other driver file - one letter off - does
exist. Some have suggested that I am spelling it wrong,
but that is not the case.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Don's advice was:
So REMove the file call
