- Posted by Robert Goh on July 7th, 2003
When I need to access 'Control Panel' via 'START' button,
then SETTING , and then click on 'Control Panel' which
does not respond to my request at all,ie, my PC stops
responding(hangs). I have to do CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open
a window which offers 'End Task'/ Wait/ Cancel options
in order to 'unhang' the PC. and on this window, it lists
string of programmes involved and show which one is at
fault, this window indicates MSGSRV32 as 'NOT RESPONDING'
Please help me to solve the problem.
Many thanks
Robert

MSGSRV32 is not causing the trouble. It is only the little program
that delivers error messages to the screen. It is mentioned because it
was trying to tell you something was wrong at the moment when Windows
hung.
The mention of MSGSRV32 does suggest that the problem might be fairly
serious -- that is, serious enough to freeze the system. Obviously,
something changed just before you began to get this error message. You
need to figure out what changed. Did you recently install new
hardware? If so, uninstall this hardware. To uninstall software, use
Device Manager. Or did you recently install new software? If so,
uninstall this software. To uninstall software, use the Add/Remove
module in Control Panel.
Then, run the System File Checker. Go to Start/Run and enter "sfc".
SFC will verify the integrity of your Windows files.
