- Need Help w/ user name
- Posted by Christine on July 17th, 2003
My computer is slow on start up...partly because it
requests the user name and password. I know I can hit
cancel, but I want to know how get rid of this log on
screen...or delete the user it was made for. The user no
longer uses the computer and never wrote down her
password, so I have no way of knowing it. Thanks!

Christine,
First do a find on your computer for any .pwl files and delete them. Do not reboot
yet, follow these instructions first:

At least for me this works:
Control Panle->Network about at the middle "Logon to primary network" I
have "Logon to Windows", not "Clent to Windows network". If it works,
search in Windows for file named "username.pwl" and delete it (where
username is the name it suggests when logging on).
(My system is finnish so translations might not be correct..)
