Software installation Problem ERROR 1904 and more
Posted by DaDnDe on July 13th, 2003

You say you ran SFC and it came back as no errors???
So what did it say?
Unless you run it frequently, there most likely should
have been several changes
Check the scanning options and make sure that the file
changes box is checked. and also make sure logging is on.
It sounds to me that you have a file version
imcompatability problem.
SFC ( System file checker) primary purpose is to check to
see that older versions of files are not trying to
overwrite newer versions of files.
When it scans your hard drive and finds a system file that
has been changed it stops. It then displays date and
version number on the left side and the version number and
date that was either present the last time u ran SFC or
what version is installed by Windows on orginal install.
If you check the bottom box,(approve all file changes
since last scan) you may be asking for trouble. In that
case you will have to restore the files one at a time.
That is where the log comes in handy.
Well this should get u started... have fun...
P.S. the tech support person u talked to should have told
you to print or send your log to him or at least told u
what to look for.
