System Lockup/Hangup

My Windows 98SE HP computer randomly locks/hangs. There
is no keyboard or mouse functions. The old standby <Ctrl>
<Alt> <Del> function does not work. I have to unplug the
machine to turn it off and reboot. It occurs whether I am
in an application, playing games (such as solitaire), or
on the internet. Could this be a memory (RAM) problem? I
increased my memory from 64 to 256. I am getting
desperate. Can someone give me any insight please?

This problem existed before you incresed the RAM, right? I ask because one
of the common causes for this kind of behavior would be mismatched RAM -
something that often occurs when people move from, say, 64 to 256 MB. RAM
sticks should match each other as closely as possible. If the problems
appeared only after you did the RAM upgrade, test the sticks one at a time
and see if you still have the problem.

Otherwise, I recommend a good "tune-up" to your computer - see the steps on
my Computer Health page (the link is in my sig).

The RAM upgrade was completed with a matching set of 128's.
