As for Limewire, the latest versions are apparently full of Spyware and Adware (Gator, Cydoor, etc.). After you are able to uninstall it, you may still need to remove left-behind spyware, and possible trojan. Install and run Ad-ware 6 free edition, click the link in the program to check for and install any updates, then run a full system scan, and remove whatever it finds.

Do a full-system virus scan with the latest updates from your anti-virus app's web site.

From the Help Guide on the second link:
What is a Limewire
Limewire is a popular file-swappingapplication that lets you trade audio, video, and other files by way of the Gnutella network. It enables peer-to- peer file sharing on the Gnutella Network. This tool is similar to the popular Napster service, in that it enables the sharing, searching, and downloading of MP3 music files. However, Lime Wire takes information sharing a step further by enabling the user to share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, word processing documents. LimeWire is Java-based, which allows it to run on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux; unfortunately, this also means that it runs more slowly than competitors such as KaZaa Media Desktop and BearShare. Limewire has been infected with a spyware trojan connected to an advertising program which was included called "ClickTillUWin"
Sour add-ons
LimeWire suffers from a rather long installation and comes with some surprises. For example, once you download the 3.8MB installer and launch the setup program, LimeWire downloads a few additional components--and you never find out what some of them are. The extra download time is somewhat inconvenient, but it, as well as the ensuing installation, is automated, so we don't mind that much.
Unfortunately, LimeWire, along with most file-sharing apps, also installs several adware applications to finance its development. You can opt out of TopText (which superimposes links to advertiser sites on top of regular Web pages) and Gator, but you have to install Cydoor, which runs LimeWire's annoying banner ads. After installation, we also found desktop shortcuts to a casino Web site and the ubiquitous BonziBuddy (which you can, of course, right-click and delete).
It is important to note that in many cases the "parent" freeware or shareware software that included the spyware might either try to reinstall the adware or stop functioning after you remove the spyware components.
Then run either OpOut or Ad-Aware from Lavasoftusa.com or Spybot - another free spyware removing software to remove all other traces or components.
