- Cannot manage swap file
- Posted by Don Phillipson on February 19th, 2008
After reinstallation of Win98SE, apparently normal
(and year 2004 update & security disk) MSCONFIG
shows via / Advanced button only the
/Advanced Troubleshooting window (about 15
checkable boxes.) MSCONFIG offers no path to
the Virtual Memory module to manage the swap file (e.g.
to put the swap file on another logical drive or manage its
size.)
I just noticed besides that the Resources Meter does
not run although RSRCMTR.EXE and RSRC32.DLL are
both in place in C:\Windows. Does either anomally
suggest some defect in the instal process? Otherwise
everything seems to run OK (and fast).

I've never seen this option in the Windows 98 version of
msconfig. Try "Control Panel", "System", "Performance",
"Virtual Memory".
"RSRC32.DLL" should probably be in the Windows\System
folder.
