Error Message: 'While Initializing Device VKD - Windows protection error
Posted by Clarke Buckeridge on September 28th, 2004

Hello, I own a IBM Thinkpad 600e and I am having severe
problems booting up the machine on Windows 98. Everytime I
attempt to start-up ot displays the following message:
'Error Message: While Initializing Device VKD -- Windows
Protection Error -- You Need to Restart Your Computer'.
Even in safe it displays this message. I am led to
believe that it is a malfunction with the keyboard, and
the remedy is to disconnect the keyboard then re-connect.
However, I have a laptop so I am unable to comply with
this solution. Please does anybody have any advice? Is
this better answered on an IBM solution's board?

Many Thanks
Clarke

Does your laptop have an external keyboard port? If so can you start it
with a keyboard attached?
