- Password Protect a computer

Is there a way to password protect a computer with WIN98?
I know that when the log-on screen comes up, if you hit
cancel, the computer will continue to boot up anyway. I
need to be able to put a password on that will keep anyone
from using the computer that is not authorized.

Windows 98 does not offer this level of security. There are some
third-party add-ons and tricks you can use but they won't slow down anyone
who really wants to get in.

MVP Doug Knox has a security procedure on his web site:
http://www.dougknox.com
Click "Security" and then "Prevent Unauthorized Users from accessing
your computer." As an alternative, your BIOS may have password
protection for startup.
