Boot into Safe mode. Then go to Device Manager and remove the devices in
System, the IDE controllers, and if the new motherboard has onboard sound,
video, modem, etc. then remove anything that will be different once you
install the new motherboard.
Once the motherboard is installed, it is possible that you might be able to
boot up and have the new hardware recognized and drivers installed but I
believe that it's more common to require an install over the current
installation. This would be the same procedure that you would go through if
you just moved your hard drive to a different computer.
