Rockwell modem driver help needed!
Posted by Witchsmeller on January 23rd, 2004

Hi,

I'm formatting an old Win95 box & reinstalling Win98SE for a friend.
Currently. he's got a Rockwell V.34 rcv336acf/sp r6749-21 modem installed
but I can't find an up-to-date Win98SE driver anywhere.

I believe Rockwell is now part of Conexant & I've been to their site &
downloaded a tool to determine if the installed modem HCF or HSF along with
the generic drivers for each. Unfortunately I can't use the 95 box at the
moment as I don't have a correct keyboard or mouse, but can anyone tell me
if these generic Conexant drivers will work for older Rockwell modems also?
I've noticed that there are files named ROK###.VXD in the folders for both
the HCF & HSF drivers so I think they might.

If not, can anyone point me to a correct driver or offer some help, maybe
98 will install a generic driver that will work but I'd like to be sure
before I format his machine.

Thanks, Jase.
