Hi,
I'm a novice so pls bear with me if u find my questions
stupid. Anyway, I hope I'm posting this on the right
newsgroup.
I had problems inserting movie file into powerpoint
presentations (Error msg: Video not available. Cannot
find 'vids:MJPG' decompressor.) so I tried searching for
MJPG codec on the web. i downloaded a few .exe files
(supposedly to be containing codecs)which didnt prove to
be helpful.
Then I came across some instructions that has instructed
me to edit my system.ini and win.ini files. Though this
method didnt help, I've removed quite a number of entries
from mci extensions inside win.ini file but there was no
need to edit system.ini file.
My questions:
1. What is the use of the system.ini file and win.ini file?
2. Does the entries in the files have to be in a specific
order to be effective?
3. By adding an entry inside (win.ini and system.ini
files), the new component is created or do I have to go
further than that?
4.I I would like to know the function/use for some entries
under mci extensions inside win.ini file.
cda=CDAudio
m3u=MPEGVideo
asf=MPEGVideo2
asx=MPEGVideo2
ivf=MPEGVideo2
lsf=MPEGVideo2
lsx=MPEGVideo2
mp2v=MPEGVideo
wax=MPEGVideo2
wvx=MPEGVideo2
wm=MPEGVideo2
wma=MPEGVideo2
wmv=MPEGVideo2
By the way, the current entries (after editing) I have are:
mid=Sequencer
rmi=Sequencer
wav=waveaudio
avi=AVIVideo
aif=MPEGVideo
aifc=MPEGVideo
aiff=MPEGVideo
au=MPEGVideo
m1v=MPEGVideo
midi=Sequencer
mov=MPEGVideo
mp2=MPEGVideo
mp3=MPEGVideo
mpa=MPEGVideo
mpe=MPEGVideo
mpeg=MPEGVideo
mpg=MPEGVideo
mpv2=MPEGVideo
qt=MPEGVideo
snd=MPEGVideo
dat=MPEGVideo
mpv=MPEGVideo
enc=MPEGVideo
mpm=MPEGVideo
5. Should I add any entries from 4. into my win.ini file?
Or are they simply redundant?
Lastly, I'm running on OS Win98SE. (Dunno if this info is
helpful)
Thanks a million to anyone who attempts to answer my qns.
