- Trying to install 98 on a dual boot P4 2.4GHz machine
- Posted by Brian Scott on October 7th, 2003
Have twice tried to install win98se on my new machine. It
sucessfully installs until it gets to the update hardware
stage then hangs with a message that refers to a fatal
error "cannot access device SDIS..." then hangs. Initially
tried win98 and got a "NDIS" error which was traced back to
a limit on win98 on the processor speed (max 2.2 Ghz).
Thought that 98SE would solve it.

SDIS refers to your video card. Make sure that there is less than 512Mb of
memory installed and try again. You may be able to increase the memory after
getting the installation to complete.
