UPDATE 98 to 98SE - format HD required?
Posted by trippknightly@hotmail.com on February 8th, 2005

If I use an official UPDATE disk to go from Win 98 to 98 SE, will I be
required to format the hard drive, lose data (& software) - or is the
update more harmless than that?

Thx

No, boot win98 insert the update disk and update.

You do not need to format. All programs data and applications will be
retained. You may still want to back up important information just in case.

Note: If your existing installation has problems then the upgrade may not
fix them.

Does it say Update or Upgrade on the disk? There is a difference but
in either case your programs and data should be retained.
