- Win98 Firstboot
- Posted by Eric on July 14th, 2004
Having a bit of a problem when booting for the first time
after reinstallation of win98 se - when I boot, it goes
to the win98, loading windows for the first time screen,
and doesnt lock, just stops working, so I press ESC and a
message is there that says, Config.sys too large for
memory, remove some drivers and try again. So I have a
look, only himem.sys is in it.. so Im stuck here.. any
ideas?

From a DOS prompt, rename the config.sys and autoexec.bat files by changing
their extension to .old as neither file is required for W98 to run.
