Anybod know how to fix this problem? I re-installed
Windows 98 version 2 after my hard drive had a sector go
bad and took out most of the Windows application. My
system is a Dell that was upgraded when the first hard
drive ate it last year. Second hard drive has this bad
sector problem now - don't know how or why but the Windows
98 is back up and running. I only have the original
Windows 98 since the Windows 2000 was loaded by the
factory when repairs were made. When I go to re-load the
programs lost when re-loading Windows, the same error
message keeps appearing: Error Applying Transforms. Verify
That the Specified Transform Paths Are Valid. I've tried
the prescribed methods: Install Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility (which loads fine but doesn't appear to work since
the Office CD won't load and the error message re-appears.
I've also tries the Registry Editor, but I get a syntax
error about the command line d:\setup.exe /1*v
C:Officelog.txt So, now I've also tried the Office 2000
SR1 Registry fix using regedit to find transforms as .mst
files, but there aren't any.
Any of you Windows wizards know how to fix this problem?
Any help would be better than me throwing this computer
out the window. Thanks in advance. Tom
