30 redeployment wizard error
Posted by des on July 1st, 2008

I am trying to redeploy 3.0 in two cases.

first case: redeploy in the same domain, everything is ok.

second case: redeploy to a new domain, problem occurs during redeployment
wizard usage. It says
"An error occurred when populating Microsoft CRM user groups. Ensure that
CRM user accounts are accessible from the current domain and run the wizard
again."
I created new users in the new domain and manually mapped with previous
ones. Since this a test environment, user names, computer name, domain names
of both previous and new systems are identical. Please give me
recommendations.

For the user that you created on the new AD, are those users currently
active, did you give permission the test CRM server/installation user
account to access/create OU in the AD? Did you create a new OU in your
AD for CRM?

Thank you for the reply Darren. I have created all of them and give
permissions, but still same problem.

Hi,

Can you try to restart your sever and try it again, I just make sure
that the sucurity is in sync with the AD. Also another questions is:
does your crm server able to connect to your AD and does the
installation user able to connect to your AD? For testing only and
since this is your test, can you grant your installation user domain
admin rights to see if you can get CRM install? BTW, CRM doesn't
require domain admin rights to do the installation. But here we just
want to relax the security to see if it works.

I gave all security permissions to the installation user. I did many
redeployments previously and had no problems, but redeploying to a new
domain is strange, I cannot figure out what the problem is.

It shouldn't be that difficult. Can you do a redeployment to the
MSCRM VPC Image to see if it works? Will you able to look up AD
from your CRM server? Is your test domain connected to the existing
domain? Since the name is the same, there might be some confusions if
the redeployed CRM app server able to see both domain.

I checked all those things Darren. Maybe the reason, I try this redeployment
on a single machine (AD, crm, sql2005 etc. all on one server) and using trial
licenses.
