Accounts and Contacts form loading delay
Posted by Kev W (Concentrix Limited, UK) on February 2nd, 2007

I have just done a 're-install' of MSCRM as we have just re-structured and
updated the infrastructure.

My setup is as follows:
CRM Server: 4GB Ram, 3ghz Xeon
DB Server: 4GB Ram, Dual Processor 2ghz Xeon

I am running CRM from an instance on the DB server.

The CRM system moves very quickly when moving between screens such as
looking at a list of contacts, accounts, creating an activity etc, but it is
incredibly slow when actually loading the account or contact screen.

You double click a specific account and the window opens and you are
presented with the blue background. The progress bar goes all the way along
(quite quickly) and then you can count to three before the screen changes and
you can see the fields with the completed data - it is really annoying as I
haven't seen this behaviour anywhere else.

In attempting to resolve this I have check performance on both the DB and
CRM server, we are running a 1gb internal network and it is only low usage. I
have also added the inetpub parameter (MemCacheSize) and reduced caching on
the Stage.js file.

Are there any other suggestions?

Thanks

Kev

Hi, Kev.

1) If not, try installing CRM 3.0 rollup1. It solves some perf
problems (caching and so on)

Are you sure the problem is on the server?
2) Enable automatic caching on client pc, enlarge disk usage for temp
internet files upto 250 Mb
3) Check minimum hardware requerements for clients. If you have single-
cored processors (<600 MHz), what we had, you will have the symptoms
described with 100% processsor usage during 2-5 sec.

4) Try to use Fiddler watching what's happening at the point of
"freezing" : http://www.fiddlertool.com/fiddler/version.asp
