Active Accounts View and Active Contacts view is taking lot of time to show the records
Posted by srini on September 11th, 2005

Active Accounts View and Active Contacts view is taking longer time to
load for some users.

problem:

we have role called "Sales Team". this role doesn't have
Global(organization) read access for Accounts and contacts, rather it
was set to Parent:child Business Units.

Initially when we don't have much data in CRM, No user was facing
performace related issues. now, the main problem is when the data is
growingup in database, we started seeing problems forsome users.

Active Accounts view and Active Contacts view is taking for ever to
load. some times it is taking more than 17 minutes to load that screen.

is there any way to improve this performace?

Srini

How many contacts/accounts do you have in your database? Does this happen for
all the users on this team? What happens if you give them global read access?

Please check your crm web server and CRM sql server event logs to see if any
events are being reported that may indicate a problem. Also check resources
to make sure your servers are not becoming RAM constrained etc.

If I give global read access, this problem is not occuring. I am
planning to capture the infomation using Pssdiag and look into that
information.

I didn't see any errors in application log's.

There is a performance issue in the way the generated views work related to
ecurity that can cause issues like this on a larger table. That is one of
the limiting factors in the performance. I have heard of cases where
support has walked customers through making changes to this. I'd suggest
opening a ticket.

Srini,
Did you open a ticket with MSB? if so, I am curious what they told you to do.

Dear All-

Microsoft solved this problem. They sent me the Hot Fix KB894546, I
have installed it.

Its taking only 2 sec to load the Active Accounts and Active Contacts
View(Earlier it was taking 19 mintues). Still I am doing testing. I
haven't seen any problems till now, Its working fine.

Regards,
Srini.
