We have just delpoyed CRm and have customized as much without moving onto the
schemo and database updates.

Is there any way to change/add to the activity grid columns ? We want to add
creadted and modified date column headings as out of the box there is no way
to sort on activitis (e-mai, phone call, etc.) by date withou doing an
advanced search.

There is a way, which is officially unsupported, but uses the standard CRM
mechanism for customising views:

To modify the My Activities view, browse to:

http://<server>/tools/viewEditor/viewManager.aspx?id={00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001899}

For other activity views, change the URl to use the following GUIDs:
