- Adding dates to activity views
- Posted by Per H on January 25th, 2005
I need to change the default views for activities.
From this community, I've learned that I should use this method (URL):
http://[myserver]/tools/viewEditor/viewManager.aspx?id={00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001899}
But, unfortunately, this doesn´t work for me. I get the following error:
Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

it is spelled correctly.

What is wrong ?
I'm using using version 1.2 Swedish

may i ask where u got this information,
because MS CRM customization tools, do not natively allow customization of
Activity Views.
You may be sorta hacking your way into it, which could prove dangerous in
the future.
As if its not supported natively, then any future upgrades could damage your
customizations & the application itself.

Yes, I'm completely aware of that this an unsupported customization.
However, I'm just adding two date columns to the activitiy views (which I
BTW think should have been there from start). After the next upgrade, I will
have to add the date columns again, and hopefully I will be able to do it the
"official" way by then.
The information about how to customize the views is widespread, I have seen
at least a dozen postings about it, in this forum and in others. People also
know how to find the IDs for different views in the database.

So to confirm, this is the only way to get a create date column for an
activity?
When we migrate in the data from Goldmine we combined the Create Date into
the beginning of the Subject field but the customer has asked how we can show
it in when they create new records. Is this the only way - unofficial or
not? This seems like a big oversite and I hope it will be fixed in 2005 as
well as the ability to customize the activity forms and views.
Thanks for your response.
