Adding Parent Account to a Contact Record Not as Good as Creating Contact from the Account Record
Posted by JRJ on October 1st, 2007

I believe that Michael Höhne has written about the consequences of
creating Contact(s) and establishing the relationship with an Account
by designating the parent account as not being as good as creating an
Account, and then adding a Contact via the Account record.

Does this imply that reporting on Account(s) and their child records
Contact(s) will produce inconsistent results, and that the
relationship will not be reliable?

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Not at all. The relationship will always exist and can be reported on with no
issues. I think what Michael was referring to is the data mappings from the
Parent Account to the Chiold Contact record. When you create a new contact
from within the Parent Account, the Account name (Parent Account link), and
all Customer Address data is auto populated into the Contact record, saving
data entry time and ensuring data integrity.
