Adding values to "OpportunityCloseActivity"
Posted by toddritt on July 8th, 2005

I'd like to add more values for "Status Reason" for when my users close an
opportunity. However, the Close Activity is a popup window that I can't find
when I go to the system customization while logged in to MS CRM. Is there
anyway to add values to this?? I see the fields in Deployment Manager
(OpportunityCloseActivity/statuscode), but obviously I can't change anything
there.

Thank you very much for any help!

you can change status reasons for opportunities in the opportunity
customisation. Go to settings, system customisation, opportunities,
customise form, Administration, status reason, and Values.

Choose the Status you want more values for and add them here.

That is for the status reason of the OPPORTUNITY, I need to edit the status
reason of the OpportunityCloseActivity (when you view an opportunity and
click "Actions/Close Opportunity," a window pops up for you to enter
Won/Lost, reason, revenue, etc. I want to add values for the Reason in that
popup field. The field is "statuscode" under "OpportunityCloseActivity" in
Deployment Manager. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Todd,

I had a similar experience with the Close Opportunity List. I wanted to add
two or three additional reasons for lost opportunity but was unable to. This
is not a standard customization.

I look forward to seeing if you get any good feedback to your request as
this has been an issue with me as well.

Have you TRIED following these directions? If you did, you would see that
changing the list on the main form will change the list on the dialog as well.

Ok, just now I changed (added) values for Opportunities/Administration/Status
Reason through the system customization area. I added about 7 values and
published the changes. These values now show up under
Opportunities/Administration, but that is not what I'm looking for. When I'm
viewing an opportunity and I click Actions/Close Opportunity, a Close
Opportunity dialog box pops up. If the Status radio button is set to "Won,"
I can only have "Won" in the Status Reason drop-down box directly below it.
If the Status radio button is set to "Lost," I can only have "Cancelled" or
"Out-Sold" in the Status Reason drop-down box. I want to add values to the
drop down box when we lose an opportunity. So changing
Opportunities/Administration/Status only affected the field it was supposed
to, not the OpportunityCloseActivity field that I want it to.

Thanks for help.

and when you added the values, did you first change the status at the top of
that page to "Lost"?

Ah, ha. Thanks Matt. I never even saw that drop down (since I had never
seen it on any of the other customize form windows). Thanks to Simon too. I
appreciate it.

How can this be done in MSCRM 3.0? I see from the post date this must be 1.2
as "VALUES" doesn't exist in the my 3.0 screen.

These rules apply to CRM 3.0 as well. I just did this by going to Settings ->
Customization -> Customize Entity -> Opportunity -> Attributes -> statuscode
(Status Reason) -> Change 'state' to Lost -> add your values.

I want to hack and change the state code label from 'Lost' to 'Other'. Is
anyone aware of any risk to the underlying metadata?
