Can I directly specify a custom entity, custom view from Sitemap?
Posted by OLL on November 16th, 2007

Hi,

I have noticed one or two posts similar to my query, but none seemed to
provide the answer.

I have a custom entity which will be accessed from the Sales, Marketing and
Service buttons (areas). As we can only specify one default view - I am
trying to specify a particular view (other than default) within sitemap. My
trouble is finding the specific URL to my custom view (created within
Settings..). I know how to specify the URL to the entity, but this just
shows the default view.

I downloaded the fiddler tool to try and pinpoint the URL, but as it seems
to call the webservices to find the viewid etc, I am not sure if I can simply
pass a URL in sitemap to achieve what I am after?

Has anyone got this working, or is it simply not possible?

If not poss, does Titian offer any way around this?

Regards,
Oll

It's not as simple as just giving a URL. There is a way, but it's a bit
long-winded for the newsgroups. I'm most of the way through putting up a post
on my blog about this - it should be up there in a day or two if you can wait
(and it is the weekend)

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. I sure can wait. I'll check your blog in a few days
as this has been bugging me for a while.

Cheers,

Ok, it took more than a day or two, but the following describes one way to
provide different default views for different CRM users:
