Case history within each case
Posted by Eric Rist on July 27th, 2005

Hello all,

We have more than one person who may work on any given case. If a user opens
a case and adds some details and then saves and closes... all is fine.
Later if another user opens that same case and adds some details and then
saves and closes everything is still ok but I don't know who did what.

In our old system every time details were added and saved a time stamp was
added with the user name, like so:

Changed status from [open] to [Internal].

Reopened this ticket. I don't think that anyone is doing maintnance at
night, so what is the right solution to this problem? Please contact me so we
can talk about this more.

In case when a maintenance needs to be done on Best:

I need something like this. Something to track all the hands that have been
in the pot.
Any alternate suggetions are greatly welcome!

Thanks!
Eric

You'll either have to develop an audit system yourself, or purchase a 3rd
party audit add-in like VAST from www.vscrm.com

Hope this helps

If you edit the associated view for activities, you can add columns that will
show you the created by and created on fields for activities. This won't let
you see if someone changed a field on the case form, but will give you more
useful info in the history. Search the newsgroup for info on customizing
activity views - or check out a recent entry on my blog

If you train your users to track information in cases by using activities
then each user will have a log against the case. You could then build a
report that shows each case then a list of activities by owner for each
case. Using this technique will show you who has been working on a case

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the info. I did check out our blog site and I loaded :

http://myserverhere/tools/viewEditor...A-000010001899

Add the additional columns but when I tried to save the changes I got an
error:

Invalid Item Id
The Item Id is invalid

Any thoughts?

Thanks for suggestions!
