- Closing all activites within a campaign so they appear in hisotry
- Posted by Jenn on April 23rd, 2008
I am working in campaigns and quick campaigns trying to create a history for
a set of accounts. Example: I am sending out a fax blast to 1000 accounts.
I have choosen my accounts and added them to a marketing list which has been
added to the campaign. I create the activity to send them all a fax,
distribute the activity and now that fax shows up in the activities section
of the customer account (showing that it is outstanding) I can then go back
into the activity in the campaign and go more actions, close activity, and it
closes the activity for the campaign, but still leaves it in open status in
the customer accounts. I need to be able to close these, as it is not
feesable to go through 1000 activities and close them one at a time.
Any one know if it is possible to do a "bulk" close on all the activities
related to a campaign at once, and have them automatically show up in history?
Your help is appreciated!

Hi Jenn
Sorry I can't answer your query - but I'm wondering if you can help me - how
did you get a fax blast to work? Microsoft Technical Support have told me
it's not possible with CRM 3.0 and isn't included in CRM 4.0. Thanks, Rod

Hi Rod,
I don't actually send the fax blast through CRM - I create my list and
campaigns and then export the list to excel and import into my fax blast
program. It definately would be easier if it went directly through CRM, but
it doesn't look like that will be happening for awhile.

Hi Jenn
Thanks for that, it's a real shame we can't fax blast from within CRM "out
of the box" because it would certainly solve your problem! Apparently there
is a way to automate the fax blast but it involves additional coding. Anyway,
good luck with the post - hope someone can answer your original query!
Best regards
Rod

When we are installing CRM, our projects always involve a mass conversion of
accounts, contacts, and activities. I convert those activities, but they
come over as Open activities. In order to close them, I create a view that
brings up all of the activities, and then I write a workflow rule to run
against all records in that view. My workflow rule changes the status on the
activity to closed. Maybe you could try something simple like that.
