Create an opportunity from a lead
Posted by John Koziaris on April 6th, 2004

Hi.

I am a new user to CRM.

When creating an opportunity from a lead, do you need to create an account
and contact?

If find that if I don't I lose all the customer's details in the lead.

I need some basic information of the lead process.

Yes, check the boxes for each. The process is thoroughly
non-intuitive (why would we spend all that time entering
data only to have to enter it again?) but that appears to
be the way to retain your data.

Because a Lead may turn out to be assocaited with an existing record in your
database. This way, you have the choice instead of the system creating
duplicate Accounts or Contacts.
