CRM 3 Offline not same as Online
Posted by jim_adams@hotmail.com on January 31st, 2006

When CRM 3 for Outlook is on-line, I correctly see Leads from all
users.

However, when going off-line, I only see Leads where I'm the owner.

Any ideas how to get off-line to be the same as on-line?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, I don't have the answer yet, haven't spent enough time on the sync
aspects, but I believe it lies in the filters for sync. In an effort to not
sync the entire DB to the remote clients there are filters set to only sync
those items you are directly responsible for. I believe there are ways to
modify those filters, but I don't know where yet.

Remember the more you sync, the longer it will take and the larger the DB
will be.

Wish I could give you more, cant just yet.

It is due to the "Local Data" filters that are set as a defualt in the
outlook client. Go CRM >Local data on the toolbar in the outllok client
adn you will find the 29 default filters and modify, delete or
deactivate those as desired so that you are synching the data that you
want. Do think it through a bit though as suggessted...especially if
you are syncing remotely via a VPN.....how many records will it be if
you take all records, how will that impact sync time?, etc...etc.

Hi Steve,

I don't have a CRM > Local Data menu on the outlook toolbar. I'm
running CRM 3 so maybe this is for v1.2?

All syncs will be done from the local LAN, so speed isn't a problem.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, if you have the CRM Client installed you should see a new set of CRM
buttons, a new "CRM" menu option as well as the CRM folders all within
Outlook.

If you don't have this, I don't know how it can sync any data at all.

Did you install the client, or are you just using the web interface?

All seems well now,

Mike,

OK, I found out why I didn't see the CRM > Local Data menu in Outlook.
When CRM 3 for Outlook is in Offline mode, the Local Data menu item is
removed. Only when it's Online does it appear.

After making new filters for All Accounts, Contacts, Leads and
Opportunities, I have the data I'm looking for.

Thanks again for your help.

Jim
