Is CRM 4.0 available yet through MSDN?
Posted by Mark Andrews on December 31st, 2007

We are a registered user of CRM 3.0, looking to upgrade to CRM 4.0.

I don't see the download in MSDN online?

Anyone know how I can get the software?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

You can download it via Microsoft Download, on the site it includes the Trial
Keys that you can use for now:

Outlook Client

Frank's on it quickly as always.

But do a test up grade first in a Virt environment. Lot's of our client's
deployments are highly customized and we get for the most part 97 percent of
the upgrade but that last 3 percent can be a bear.

Thanks! The trail version can be changed to a production version by using
the right keys? In 3.0 we
started off with a trail and could not just add our key to the install and
have it switch over. I think we ended up re-installing.

That's very odd , because 3.0 was supposed to be able to allow the adding of
the key to upgrade the trial version.

What did your VAR say about that?

4.0 is supposed to be the same way.

It was a while ago but I think there was a way that you could migrate it
somehow (but for sure it wasn't as easy and replacing some key values and it
becomes the real version), but in the end for us it was easier to just
reinstall (since we didn't customize the eval very much). We were just
working with a consulting company.

It sounds like 4.0 probably works the right way. I'll find out soon (once I
get a server to put it on).

Does anybody know if it will be made available to MSDN? I would like to be
able to setup a dev version that will not time out.

Thanks, Mike

Eventually it will, just no word yet on when it will be there.
