CRM / Crystal Install error
Posted by CS on October 22nd, 2003

Just wondering if anyone is having the same install
problem I am and if there is a solution.
I am installing CRM on it's own server and using an
existing SQL server. CRM installs to the default instance
of SQL which is good but half-way through the install when
it tries to setup Crystal Reports I get the error "Failed
to install CRM Server Unknown error 80040e14" When I check
the SQL logs I find that the Crystal APS service is trying
to log into the SQL server on a Anonymous account? SQL log
reports "Logon for NT Authority/Anonymous, access denied".
Everything goes great up until this point where it looks
like Crystal just doesn't want to install. I am suspecting
some sort of SQL problem, but why would the initial
install of CRM work and install just fine and not just
this Crystal part?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have more than 1 Domain controller? This error is commonly caused by
1 of 2 problems:

1) A previous uninstall left the DB files on the server

2) AD changes that are made during the install aren't replicated in time so
the autnetication fails.

Basically, you need to force a manual replication of AD while the install is
running. This should be done at the point where it begins to run the DL
scripts.

Yes we have more than one DC but we have turned them all
off while installing CRM. The installation of CRM actually
installs and we get the "sucessfully installed CRM"
message at the end but the Crystal portion of the setup
for the DSN has failed, meaning that Crystal is trying to
log into the SQL server but fails and we get the NT
AUTHORITY/ANONYMOUS login failed error.
