CRM mailmerge capabilities, do these capabilities exist?

Does anyone know what, if any, mail merge capabilities exist in the
Microsoft CRM package?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

So far, this is what I have figured out:

I will run a query in CRM for the contacts that are
desired for the mailing. I then export these to excel
and use Word to do the actual mail merge.

I don't believe there is a simpler way, but if anyone
knows, I would like to learn this as well.

Best,

Gina

Mail Merge is only supported through the CRM Outlook client.

Yes, CRM Sales for Outlook client does provide the Mail
Merge feature for most common entities in CRM through the
Actions menu. But you can do Mail Merge only with standard
fields, any custom fields that you create in CRM will not
be visible through the Mail Merge feature.

I have managed to work around these limitations by using
standard fields that I do not need for my custom purposes.
I have successfully sent bulk e-mail and bulk faxes using
the CRM Mail Merge feature (of course your Office XP
application has to be tied to a fax server through
Exchange and will use your Outlook profile for sending e-
mails and faxes). I created custom templates in Word XP
and launched them through the CRM Mail Merge feature.

There is a 3rd Party ISV product that lets you do bulk-email, mail-merge,
faxing and bulk-faxing from within the web client - It's called OmniRush
from Z-Firm.

Hi Jeanette,

Sorry about that. I should have included it in the original reply.
