Error installing outlook client on office 2007/vista
Posted by Dr Adrian Colquhoun on September 5th, 2007

Hi

I have run into a problem installing the outlook client on vista / office
2007. Initially the setup program detected the CRM SQL2005 express edition
missing (whcih I duely instructed it to install) and incorrectly detected
..NET 1.1 SP1 missing (1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 are all installed on the laptop). The
setup program would not install the .NET 1.1 so I eventually reinstalled this
manually (despite it being already present).

Now if I rerun the crm setup program I recieve the following error after
accepting the licence screen:

"The type initializer for
Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Common.CommonResource threw a exception. File or
assembly name Microsoft.CRM, or one of its dependencies, was no found"

Any help appreciated !

Adrian

John

Thanks for the info. I have disabled the windows search service as
instructed in the blog post. Unofrtunately this has made no difference to the
installation and I still get the error at the same point when the search
service is not running.

Anyone got any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Adrian

After a bit more fiddling I now have the client installed. I think the
problem was trying to install from the iso image as a virtual drive rather
than actually buring the iso to a disk before running the install.

However, I cant connect as I need to specify my login credentials to attach
to the server and I cant workout where to do that - anyone help
