Error when adding a custom field through Deployment Manager
Posted by Andrew Shumway on January 7th, 2004

I am receiving an error when trying to add a custom field through the
Deployment Manager:
"An error occurred during the addition of the new field. The addition
failed. For more information, see the event log".

The Application event log lists the following entry:
"dmLog: Failed to grant access to the regenerated view Account after
inserting new attribute CFSTest."

My domain login has domain admin privelages and is a member of the
System Administrator role in CRM.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

this usually means the field is already there... if you check your event
log - 9 times out of ten it will confirm this....

I verified that the field did not already exist (even going as far as
querying the metabase).

The event log listed the following:
"dmLog: Failed to grant access to the regenerated view Account after
inserting new attribute CFSTest"

Is there a place where I can set permissions on the Account view? As
I stated in my original post, my login has CRM System Administrator
and domain admin priveleges so I don't think permissions should be an
issue.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

You are right, permissions shouldn't be a problem - are you the one who
installed CRM? I think I read that that is the only account that can create
new fields etc...

Unfortunately, this still does not work. I have tried adding the
custom fields with the login that installed CRM... still the same
error.
