How do I modify system views?
Posted by Maleke Turat on May 12th, 2008

There are a few default system views with v3.0. From the Contacts object we
have "Active Contacts", "Inactive Contacts", "My Active Contacts", etc.
These are fine but when you come from the Accounts ti Contacts the list
provided includes both Active and Inactive. I would like to modify this list
to only display active contacts, is this possible? How? This default
setting has a flaw since users would typically deal with active contacts
99.9% of the time. Inactive contacts list should only be queried on unique
circumstances like data review.

Filters on such views cannot be modified using the web interface. What you
can do is export the entity customizations and then alter the views in the
xml file. Note that this method is more complex and risky so do keep a valid
version of the customization file and backup ready in case you make an error.
Also there are some issues in modifing system views; not all changes are
supported and may be undone by a hotfix, update and/or upgrade
