How much is CRM?
Posted by Liz on October 15th, 2004

I am looking for a package (if it exists) that can go from beginning when
sales shakes hand with a potential client straight through implenting a
networking plan for the company, to a call tracking system for afterwards, to
possilbly customer followup and reporting every stage of the way. There has
got to be a better way than paper and spreadsheets.

What country are you in and what package are you looking at? Microsoft CRM
can be configured to do most of the things you are looking for, if you have
the right procedures in place. CRM comes in two modules: Salss and Customer
Service. Either of these modules can be licensed in Standard or Professional
flavors. You can also buy them as a suite in Standard or Professional.
Pricing in the US for for-profit companies is around $1500 for each module's
server software ($2500 for the suite server) and $500 per standard module
user, ($925 per user for Pro) or $1600 per user for the suite. However, there
are promos going on with Small Business Server and probably some others, and
then you have to consider Microsoft's licensing programs like software
assurance, etc. It can get pretty complex, and you should get a certified CRM
partner to price it out for you according to your needs.

The main points to consider when looking at pricing, however, are whether
you have the in-house skills to deploy CRM or would need to engage a
partner's services, and whether your company is prepared to go through the
process of defining its business procedures.

You will also want a plan in place for how to capitalize on your new system:
training, maintenance, reporting, refining, upgrading, 3rd-party add-ons and
integration with other systems or websites, etc. I would highly recommend the
services of an experienced partner who can help you step through the process
efficiently and will dramatically boost your ROI.

Hope that you find this info useful. This newsgroup will also prove to be a
good source of answers and referrals to partners should you decide to proceed.

There is no such thing as the best CRM. Your business needs determines the
best CRM not any CRM technology solution.
