Is there a way to see - in an Activity View - which Activities have notes
attached? I've seen in J.D. Edwards, where you can see a paperclip icon in
the leftmost column if there is an Attachment on the record.

I don't think that you can see this in standard MSCRM. However, if you use
the Summary addon from www.c360.com this gives the view that you require.
It is part of their core productivity pack

There is a view included with the add-on which is 'My Summary' but this only
shows records for the active user - but this can be filtered to only show
certain activity types. Might not be what you are looking for though if you
want to see all letters regardless of user.

You could always download a trial copy to check it out if you wanted.
