We are looking at installing CRM and currently have a SBS server, but I
don't want to perform the install on this server. Is it possible to install
CRM on another box, but use the SQL database, and Exchange services on the
SBS server for the CRM install?

In a word - Yes.

We have a similar setup here.

Cheers,

Liam

You'll want to use the microsoft.public.crm.deployment newsgroup for any
questions on getting CRM installed.

Hi Phil,

yes, you can install on a separate server. However, you can no longer use SB
Edition, you'll have to buy Professional licenses meaning that the price
will almost double. You'll also lose fax services integration.

Hope this helps

Remember that you don't have SQL Standard with Premium SBS.

CRM enterprise will be looking for SQL Standard or enterprise.

So, I would say you will have to create a member server and then to an
install of SQL 2005 Standard and MSCRM.

Hi Curt,

have not tried it myself and you may be right that CRM Professional won't
install on SQL Wokrgroup Edition. It certainly does not like developers
edition ver ymuch so I won't be surprised if it treats workgroup the same
way. Suddenly it becomes a very expensive exercise in SBS environment.
Unless they indend to exceed 75 users I'd say the surplus money could be
used to buy a better hardware instead.

Cheers
