Import 4.0 customizations after upgrade
Posted by Peter v A on January 7th, 2008

Hello,

I did a new install of CRM 4.0 on a server.
On an image I did an upgrade from CRM 3.0 (with our customizations) to CRM
4.0.

When I try to import the CRM 4.0 customizations from the image to our new
install, I get the following error:
"Either the file could not be uploaded, or this is not a valid Customization
file."

It doesn't make a difference if I upload a .zip file or .xml (which I
extracted from the customizations.zip).
I don't want to make all the customizations that I did in CRM 3.0 all over
again so that it works in 4.0.

Any help is appreciated.

I suggest opening a service request with Microsoft CRM support as this
problem probably takes longer to analyze...

Can you tell me why do you think this problem takes longer to analyze?
I'm having the same problem on a completely different environment. I'm
doubting if this isn't a general problem of CRM 4.0...

Hi Peter. Do you get any meaningful feedback from MS on this issue, as i have
experienced exactly the same thing. Thanks.

do you have dev errors turned on? i was receiving a similar error but
with dev errors on it was pointing me to the bad line of code. it
ended up being some type of re.ationship added by the upgrade process
and once it was deleted from the file everything worked fine. i even
tried exporting and then immediately importing with no sucess, so it
was definitely an upgrade issue .
