- Importing an Organization
- Posted by Yeshua on June 30th, 2008
I just setup CRM 4.0 Enterprise on a test server. I imported our live CRM (in
production) into the CRM 4.0 Enterprise not knowing it would affect our CRM.
Now when I try to access our live CRM I get this message "The requested
record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it".
There are 0 number of licensed users when there used to be 4. How can I bring
back those users from our test server back into our live CRM?

is it default organization or not?
you need to access it with complete url because now you have two
organization units and i am not sure which one is default and which
one is not .

Thanks for responding.
We have our live (in production) CRM. We use the
http://servername:5555/PowerTime URL which used to work before I imported
the OU into our test server http://servername:5557/Test. I see both OU's in
the test server but when I try to view our live CRM we get the "The requested
record was not found or you do not have suffcient permissions to view it".
It's almost like the users were transfered to the CRM on the test server. Is
there a way I can move them back? There is only one OU in our live CRM
server. So when I use http://servername:5555/PowerTime that's our default. On
the test server I can access the ou by typing http://servername:5557/Test or
http://servername:5557/PowerTime which both work. I need to access
http://servername:5555/PowerTime.

I assume your test server is having its own SQL ? You took the
databases from production and restored them on Test SQL server and
then imported the new organization unit?
well you can do something like :
On test CRM server first try to disable and if it doesnt work then
delete the organization unit(which you imported from production). It
is not gonna delete the databases , they will remain their .
I am sure you also have backup of databases from production.
Post me back .

I did back up the live databases before I did the import.
I disabled the PowerTime OU on the test server and tried accessing Live CRM
and got a different error "unexpected Error". I turned on DevErrors with the
CRMDiagTool4 and got this "systemuser With Id =
40a25c63-a50c-db11-bfce-000d615f29d7 Does Not Exist". I still see 0 users
under licenses in the deplyment manager of our live CRM.

are using the same Database server for Test and production ?
My best bet will be to delete or disable organization unit on Test
server and restore the databases and then reset the IIS and try to
access it . On deployment manager check if Server status = Enabled or
disabled?

you wrote the topic
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...ea6a6e3d7e6cc#
so i conclude that you managed to install enterprise edition right?
and it was working without any issue before you imported it to the
test ?

No they have their own SQL server installed. Before I restore is there a way
I can add the users back into the Live CRM?

users are already in database (userbase and userextensionbase
table).
before you restore , try something .
shutdown your Test server and restart the production sever . It might
help. I have seen this behaviour once .

I had CRM 4.0 professional on the test server and tried to upgrade but
couldn't, so I uninstalled and reinstalled using the key from MSDN and it
worked. I started off by installing CRM 4.0 Workgroup and then upgraded to
Professional. I thought I could upgrade to Enterprise but couldn't.

good and if problem continue then run the "Repair" , it is not going
to take much time for repair . You will see the error or warning when
you run the Repair .
post me here

Hello still having the same issue. I ran a repair and that did not work still
getting the same error. Could not find userbase and userextensionbase
table. Tried doing a restore but keep getting "Exclusive access could not be
obtained because the database is in use". It looks like all the sql users are
on the sql on the test server. Is there a way I can import the sql users back
into the sql on my live crm server?

again
i dont think if users are gone
.
do one of the following
1 = well if you insist then , create a new organization unit on your
company and put it as Default. Now you import the organziation unit
from Test to Production as you move from production to the Test. When
you are done then make then imported organization as default.
2 = I am still doubt that organization unit on your Test might be
pointing to the database on your production (as i dont see it so i am
just guessing it).
Delete the Test organziation which you imported and stop the sql
instance on Test machine .
when you are done then re-install the CRM on production while pointing
to the old databases.

Your right the OU on the test server is still pointing to the production
server. The user groups are still in the production SQL server. I think the
mapping was changed to point to the test server. I will try what you
mentioned and get back with you.
