- Importing problems when creating custom attributes
- Posted by Saira on March 20th, 2006
I have made some edits on a test server and am trying to import these into
live.
My problem is that I keep getting a schema validation problem when uploading
the xml file.
When I look at the offending line I see this:
<externaldependencies>
<dependency id="fived_uniqueidentifier" />
</externaldependencies>
This is a custom attribute.
I have removed the form dependancy, I have also tried creating the attribute
in the live database manually and then importing, but the schema will simply
not validate.
Can anyone help me out? Are there tighter rules that I realised on what you
can import and in what order?

Sounds like a version mismatch. The externaldependencies element was last
used in version 3.5295.0 and is not included in the final release. Is it
posible that your source and target system are different builds?

Thanks Michael yes it is.
I think the test system is from the first version posted on the MSDN site.
Is there any way I can work round this?

Remove the complete externaldependencies element and it should import
without errors.
