- Improve SFO Mail Merge
- Posted by John BTV on April 19th, 2005
As far as I can tell, when you do an advanced find on contacts with SFO and
you have more than 100 records returned, you cannot select more than one page
at a time to perform a mail merge. This seems somewhat strange to me that
you cannot get all of the records from the query to merge at once. 100 being
the maximum number of records that CRM will display on a 'form'.
For example, we run a query against several custom fields to generate a list
of contacts to send a mass email and typical results are in the range of
600+. Currently, using SFO, a user would have to go through the entire merge
process 6+ times to complete the entire thing.
We can work around the issue hooking directly into the database through
Word's Mail Merge functionality, however, we then lose the activity
integration that places an event into each contact's history, which defeats
the purpose of having CRM.
An improvement in this area would be most welcome.
Thank You,
John

If you search for an improvement you could look at
www.mscrm-addons.com .
We have a Add-On called "WordMailMerge" which addresses
excatly the problems you described here!
You will be able to search directly in Word and the result could be some
hundred rows and then our add on has the ability to write back the activity
to
the CRM.
Some other features are that you can search contacts with criterias from
accounts
(multi entity search), you can make mailmerges with contacts and the
related accounts,...
If this is what you are searchin for you can download a trial version on
www.mscrm-addons.com
