Inbound Email Issue
Posted by Peter L on June 1st, 2004

Hope you all find this useful, which we have just discovered after two weeks
of investigation with MBS support. Apologies if you already know this. I
understand an MBS TechKnowledge will be written on this.

Issue:

Inbound emails from certain contacts get delivered to your Outlook inbox but
not CRM - even though the contact is replying to a CRM email with a GUID in
the subject.

(Note:any error messages you may find will not indicate the real cause)

Cause:

There is an Active Directory contact that has the same email address as the
CRM contact

Resolution

Ensure you have no AD Contacts with same email address as a CRM contact

hehe 2 weeks? ouch.......

I think I read that somewhere,....or actually, something similar happened to
us. We had an email with a user that wouldn't resolve despite the fact the
user had his email properly typed in his user info, etc. Eventually found
out that someone had accidently typed this user's email in a contact record
in CRM.
