Install CRM 4.0 / SQL Server 2008
Posted by Franz on April 26th, 2008

Is there a way to install CRM 4.0 on SQL Server 2008?
When trying to install an error message is displayed, stating that msftesql
service was not found. That service does not exist in SQL Server 2008
anymore. FTS is now running inside SQL Server.

According the information that I have (Implementation Guide for 4.0)
SQL 2008 is not supported with Ms CRM 4.0. Only 2005 Standard,
Enterprise, Developer, and Workgroup editions. Standard, Enterprise
and Developer also contain x64 versions... all with SP2.

There is a white paper somewhere telling how to install on Windows 2008 -
try Google or the privatenews.microsoft.com

Any idea when this might change? I installed CRM yesterday on a
Win2K3 VM and have a
SQL 2008 server in another VM and don't want to have to waste a
license and more
hardware resources installing SQL 2005.
