- Installation error for CRM 3 on SBS 2003
- Posted by Marge on October 30th, 2005
I am getting this error for SQL Server Reporting Services:
The specified path is not a metabase path. Parameter name: path
I had to load Reporting Services manually as the CRM setup previously failed
at this point ( I loaded the enterprise version)
I can run the report manager from the Start menu and I can navigate to the
URL ok.
What am I missing?

Hi, Marge.
I have the same problem and behaviour.
I've tried another installation on Windows Server 2003 and
this works fine. Now, I'm testing with this installation....
Regards
Jürgen

Specific questions related to CRM v3 should be addressed to the Early Access
newsgroup. For connectin details see:

Note that the servere name should be privatenews.microsoft.com.

I'm getting the same thing... "The specified path is not a metbase path"
after installing the Reporting Services manually. Usings SBS 2003 and I'm
attempting the CRM 3.0 Small Business Edition....
Any further news?

Matt,
I appreciate why you are pointing people to the other newsgroup but people
are looking for answers....
That newsgroup has been reporting for a couple of weeks now that the SBS
edition seems to have multiple installation issues with SQL Reporting
services (whether you let CRM install it or do it manually)...
I myself have tried 3 RTM based installs of CRM and 2 were on clean build
bang up to date SBS servers...
Noone from MS or anywhere is providing answers on that newsgroup and so I
would happyily accept pointers from any location as I (along with many
others) cannot install CRM on SBS...
Many thanks,
Mark.

I understand your frustration, but the people who are working with the EA
release are suppossed to be using that group. If the questions aren't being
answered there, they almost certainly won't get an answer here.

I had a similar problem and a Microsoft employee (Krishna Prasad K V)
gave me the solution
Please do the following steps on the Windows SBS 2003 computer:
Click Start, point to Programs, go to Administrative Tools, and then
click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
Expand the node and then expand the Web Sites node.
Right-click on the Default Web site and select Properties.
Click the Advanced button on the Web Site tab.
Select the Identity with 127.0.0.1 as the IP address and then click
Remove.
Select the SSL identity with 127.0.0.1 as the IP address and then click
Remove. There should be one identity and one SSL identity remaining.
Click OK on the Advanced Web Site Configuration dialog box and then
click OK on the Default Web site's Properties dialog box.
Follow instructions from Method 1 in KB896861:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;896861
Start the installation. Once the installation is completed you can add
back the values removed in the previous steps.
