- Installation Issue
- Posted by tony on February 7th, 2005
I have just installed CRM 1.2 Professional -
I was able to install the 1.2 client locally.
On a VPN connection, I can't seem to access the server - I tried to
installed the client and it's asking for the website, but it can't be found.
Do I need to allow remote access or some other approach?
Thank you

See if you can get to the CRM server via a web browser. If you can access it
by name, it's probably related to open ports. If you can't, it's a name
resolution issue.

I've tried that too - I enter the server web site (instead of crmweb, i've
renamed it), it prompts me to enter my user name / password with the
appropriate domain;
it attempts to authenticate the user/password and then the explorer window
closes. no error message or anything.

The FAQ says the most common reason for the window closing is that the
authentication succeeded but a popup blocker closed the new window.

i disabled the Google pop-up blocker and the window still closed - i don't
have another pop-up blocker. -
Where is the FAQ located?

Tony,
If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, you have another
popup blocker built in. You can access it via the 'Tools' pull-down menu in
Internet Explorer (if I remember correctly). Perhaps that is the cause?

Thank you for the link - disabling MSN Messenger was the trick.
