- Installation problem - showstopper!
- Posted by Kenneth Solberg on October 25th, 2004
Windows Server 2003
MS SQL Server 2000
MS CRM 1.2
Windows 2000 with Exchange 2000
- I'm logged on as domain administrator.
- SQL Server agent running, service running with domain admin previlegies.
Followed these installation instructions:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../13_ins03.mspx
Tried several installation approaches, but keeps getting this error message:
Setup was unable to install Microsoft CRM Server.
Setup was unable to provision your organisation.
Setup was unable to create the root business.
Unknow error. (80041D2A)
I've spent a huge amount of hours on this - so this is really a showtopper
for us.
Any ideas?

(Have you looked at the log file? It gets created on the root level of the
drive, if you used the splash screen to run the setup.)
Most likely you are having issues with DNS configuration on either the
Microsoft CRM Server or on the DNS server.
- Please ensure that the correct IP address is specified for the primary DNS
server in the TCP/IP settings on the CRM Server.
- If you made changes you will need to go to a command prompt and type
ipconfig /flushdns followed by ipconfig /register.
- Make sure you can do an nslookup Server name from and to all CRM Servers
(Exchange, SQL, CRM, Active Directory).
- Check to make sure that your DNS server is allowing Dynamic updates (in
the forward lookup zone).
