Insufficient Permissions Error when Closing an Opportunity
Posted by jsooy on May 3rd, 2006

Ok, just upgraded to 3.0 last week. Admin is able to close opportunities
just fine. However our sales force is unable to close an opportunity. they
always get "Insufficient Permisions - The logged on user does not have the
appropriate security permissions to view these records or perform the
specific action...."

It is in the online version as well as offline. SFO as well as web. I have
checked the settings under the salesmens role and everything seems to be open
enough to allow opportunities to be close.

Please help!!! this is driving me nuts and slowing up our productivity.

This worked fine in 1.2 only getting the problem in 3.0 now.

From another thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...f86fd342bb4aba

When an opportunity is being closed, CRM also looks for any active quotes
related to that opportunity. If there are any active quotes, CRM won't let
you close the opportunity till the quotes are closed. Unfortunately it
doesn't have a way of knowing that there are NO Quotes what-so-ever in your
system. So it still tries to ask the system if there are any active quotes.
It does so using the current user's (who's trying to close the opportunity)
credentials. So the user needs to have "Read Quote" permissions

Jeff, thanks for the reply. I finally figured it out on my own by monkeying
around with my roles. I just had to give basic permission on quotes. I had
disabled them in 1.2 but I guess 3.0 needs em for the reason you listed below.

Thanks again,

Josh

Do you know if a user must have read access to quotes in order to re-open a
closed opportunity?
