- Integration/sync with Exchange address book?
- Posted by Yud on July 11th, 2007
Hi,
Our company relies heavily on Exchange 2003 address books in the public
folders. We are in the process of implementing CRM 3.0, mainly for the
service module initially, and possibly for marketing later on.
I can found plenty of info on exporting and importing Outlook address books
into CRM. I cannot find any info on synchronizing the CRM address books
(which I understand is stored in SQL) with Exchange address books.
Export and import is useless for us as the info in the public folders
address books is changing frequently. This means that every time there is a
change or addition in the public folders we will have to export and import
again (there is no way we can replace the Exchange 2003 public folders with
CRM. CRM will be used for a different function altogether).
Am I missing something here? can you not sync CRM address book with Exchange
address books? If that's the case, I feel it's a serious oversight on
Microsoft behalf.
Can you please advise? Or help with ideas?
Any help will be appreciated.

When you install the CRM Outlook five addresslists are added to outlook
(create a new mail > hit the to... to select recipients > now look in the
Show names from the) here you have lists of all contact, account, etc.

Thank you for your reply. However, I do not want to use CRM to send emails. I
want to use the Service module to manage our customers.
Currently all our clients details are stored in an address book in Exchange
2007 Public Folders. My only option is to export this address book to a CSV
file and import into CRM. For me this is a very poor solution, apart from the
fact the the Bulk Import Wizard completely messed up my CRM Accounts list.
Looks like there is no integration with Exchange address books (once again,
I am NOT talking about Outlook and emails) and no easy way.
Thanks for your input though..
