- Internet access

We installed MS CRM 3.0 in our local network. We published that server
through ISA server on port 80. Everything works fine but there are some
strange things in functionality. As administrator I can access Org
settings in web browser in intranet but this option is not available to
me when I access CRM through Internet. Also in Tools-Options menu there
is no E-mail templates tab. Again, I noticed that some of our users
miss that tab in intranet also despite fact that they have all
necesarry roles assigned.
What can be wrong?

You will also probably notice that Reports section doesn't work as well.
The org settings accesses Reporting Services. Since your application server
in the DMZ is seperate from Reporting Services. You will rely on Kerberos
Authentication and your ticket will need to be passed by the application
server to Reporting Services. Since you're outside the network you won't be
able to request a Kerberos Ticket and this functionality will not be
available from the internet.
There may be another way but not one that i'm aware of.

Ok, that could be explanation for Org Settings, but how to explain
E-mail Templates tab missing both in intranet and internet for some
users?

My guess is that they also have the Outlook client installed and have Outlook
open while trying to view the Tools > Options in CRM web client. The CRM
Outlook client does not have some items, such as email templates, and so if
you have both open, the user is only shown what is available in Outlook. This
is because when you open Outlook with CRM, a cookie is placed on your
machine, and that cookie lets CRM determine what you see. The workaround is
to use two different URLs to access CRM. For example, you might use
http://server:5555 in your Outlook setup and use http://crm in IE.

But, how to that when CRM server is installed in intranet and it
responds only on address
http://ourservername
Should we then use alias for that?

You can add a host header to the website in IIS and then modify your DNS so
that header resolves to the CRM website.

Hi,
I have a somewhat similar problem.
I am having MS CRM 3.0 installed in our intranet. Now we want to
access it though Outlook Web Access on our individual homes through
internet access.
I being a programmer do not have deep understanding of networking concepts.
Please provide me with some good links or documents that can help me in this
respect.
Also suggest me whether is it possible to access Ms crm 3.0 over internet on
OWA or IE ?
If yes please let me know about the security

It's not possible to access CRM via Outlook Web Access. However, you can
publish CRM out to the internet and access it via the web interface. This is
accomplished the same way that you would publish any other website from IIS.
You will want to use a SSL certificate.
