- Invalid Argument Error when using 1/1/08 as a date - CRM 4.0
- Posted by dieter grobler on January 23rd, 2008
Hi all,
Not sure if this is a known issue - can anyone else create a record that
contains a date field with the value of 1/1/08 or 1/1/07, save it and then
open it again without getting an "Invalid Argument" error. I am able to
produce this error across different environments, different entities and
different date fields.
Would be interesting to hear more about this.
Thanks

Hi there,
Just to let you know, I just created a task in CRM 4 and set the due date to
1/1/08 and it worked without any issues. This is a field displayed as a
Date/Time box, on not just Date. I don't know if this will make any
difference.
If you can give me some more information I can try it on our system as well.
The only thing I can think about is have you checked your date/time settings
in the options on the CRM client and under the sytem settings in CRM

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the advice I will look into it. Just to make sure I made myself
clear - the record will create just fine without any problems. The real
issue is when you try and open that record again.
Thanks

Hi Rob,
Okay I tried with a Date/Time field - I was able to produce the error when
entering 1/1/08 12:00am or 12:30am. When entering a different time it works
fine.
Also I thought it might be usefull to mention that we are running under GMT
+12 time. Everything else in the settings seems fine regarding Date/Time.
Thanks

Hi,
I have tried this on our test system, and have managed to replicate your
issue. I only get an issue if I set my timezone to +12 hours (Aukland,
wellington). If I set my timezone to GMT everything works OK.
I think this may be an issue only with that timezone, unfortunatly I expect
you may have to contact Microsoft Support to look into this, sorry.
If you need me to try anything, please ask.
Rob

Hi Rob,
Thanks for trying - I just wanted to confirm that I am not going crazy over
here. We will raise this issue with MS.
Thanks for your help.

Interesting...we are in the same time zone and are getting a similar
error with CRM 4. Did you upgrade or install fresh?

Hi Dieter
We have similar errors on version 4.0 and see that all entries with date
1/1/2008 have similar Invalid Argument issues. Again we are also in Auckland
Wellington GMT +12.
Did you get a resolution from Microsoft on this issue? We think this could
have something to do with the SQL Collations.
Regards
Ivor Whibley
